Equipment

Ingredients

For the chicken:

  • 3 large chicken breasts, cut in half lengthwise
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

For the flour mixture:

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp salt

For the egg mixture:

  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce

For the corn flakes mixture:

  • 4 cups corn flakes, crushed
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp parsley flakes

For the sauce:

  • ½ cup honey
  • 5 tbsp hot sauce (or to taste)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 F and place a rack over a baking sheet for extra crispy chicken.

Prepare the breading station in three shallow dishes:

  • # 1: Place ½ cup flour, 1 tsp mustard powder, 2 tbsp brown sugar, and ½ tsp salt
  • # 2: Beat the eggs with 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • # 3: Crushed corn flakes, 2 tsp paprika, 1 tsp chili powder
  • Season the chicken breasts with ½ tsp salt and pepper. Coat them with the flour mixture on both side, and shake off the excess. Dip into the egg mixture on both side, and lastly press them into the cornflakes mixture on both sides. Place them on the baking rack, spray them with cooking spray, and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare the sauce: combine the honey, hot sauce, butter, vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until melted and combined. Drizzle over the baked chicken and serve more on the side.
